When?

Most of us are trapped in the hustle and bustle world of the city life. We tend to retort to the phrase "Maybe Next Time" after seeing our friends, reading about it on the internet about the adventures we wish we did. Promised ourselves to do, but for so long a time hasn't done it.

Well my dear friends and readers, it's time to break free from the grasp of what we call reality. There's more to life than dimes and dollars or should I say cents and pesos. Let's go out there and discover.

I'm a realist. Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a bit of freedom to do things. Let's face it, once you're out the door it's like riding a cab. As if you can hear the meter running. So might as well save up a little and spend it to a more meaningful endeavor (and I don't mean going to the mall stuff).

It's time to say "HELLO WORLD!"

A Peaceful War

A couple of years ago I saw my friend holding a real steel Bushmaster AR15.  That night, while having chat over a cup of tea, there's another one on the side of the couch I was sitting.  So I decided to fiddle with it.  For some reason, there's something different about it.  It was a replica!  I can immediately tell from the weight and the texture of it (my dad is a retired military man so I know the difference between a real gun and a replica).

We talked about it a bit and after we called it a night, went immediately online and did some research on 1:1 replica pellet gun.  Hence, discovered the game about AIRSOFT.  As I went on, I found different sites about and and it's really catching up fast here in the Philippines.  I said to myself, I want to play this game!

So I saved up and went to shop for a gun. Got it!  Next would be a uniform of sorts.  Based on my research, they say it is quite painful getting hit on bare skin so I have to cover up.  Face protection is a must, so have to get that one too!

Here's my first attempt on gearing up.  See how it looks like wearing all those airsoft stuff.

I look like a dork without the boots on.

Now, where do I play?  I don't know anybody playing.  Better look for a game site near our place.  Just in case I get OP I can easily drive back home without spending too much gas.  Good thing I found one. Less than half an hour away.  One early Saturday I decided to give it a go.  At first I was a bit hesitant.  Even shy (uy! mahiyain!).  What the heck.  Parked my car, approached some of the players armed with a customary hi's and hello's and discovered that these guys are just like you and me.  Drawn together with a common hobby.

 That's me, 2nd from right.  Woohoooo! There's a kid playing.  I have a match!

From then on I try to play every weekend.  Visit different game sites nearby.  Meet people from different walks of life.  You have lawyers, doctors, students, employees, bums, rich kid etc. etc.  It's a good exercise too!  You will sweat a lot since you're all covered up in the heat of the mid day sun running around like crazy.
Those pellets are painful when you get hit.  It can be bloody at times but a little bit of iodine and band aid will fix you up quickly :)
But sometimes I just wear T's because of the heat.  Avoiding getting hit on the arms...

For the meantime, playing this game is paused for me.  Game sites are getting farther and farther away.  Good thing I have an alternative.......(to follow....)
